"My deck is so slippery!"
It's probably covered with mold and algae. Mold and algae create a slippery film on the surface of the deck, which not only affect it's appearance but which also make it dangerously slippery (especially when WET!). Fortunately, mold and algae can be readily removed with an eco-safe cleaning solution and an easy rinsing process.
"My deck was stained years ago but I haven't maintained it...."
You're not alone! While many homeowners like the idea
of a beautifully-stained wooden deck, we meet very few who have invested in the annual upkeep necessary to keep that stained deck looking great. Dirty decks with faded, deteriorated stains are much more common than well-kept decks in need of annual re-staining.
The abundance of poor deck stains currently on the market, and the harsh environmental conditions of our coastal environment, have caused many homeowners in recent years to simply focus on keeping the decks clean and letting them "weather naturally." For many Cape Cod homeowners, this approach strikes the right balance between deck longevity, appearance, and maintenance costs.
Oftentimes, by simply cleaning and brightening a deck, we are able to remove visible remnants of the old, deteriorated deck stain and provide a clean wooden deck which can then be enjoyed without visible reminders of the deck stain which wasn't maintained.
"What about the railings?"
Unless otherwise agreed, we clean and brighten the wooden railings along with the rest of the deck.
"What the heck is wood "brightening?" Bleach?"
No. While "bleach" (sodium hypochlorite) does make surfaces lighter in appearance, that's different than brightening wood in a way which brings out it's natural color and beauty. We most often use a wood brightener called oxalic acid, which is found in certain vegetables and which is favored by those who restore wood furniture. He's a brief video which gives an overview of the process:
What about UNDER my deck?
The supports under your deck are called JOISTS. If you have a raised deck, these wooden supports may be visible and FILTHY. Yes, we can clean this part of your deck, too.
