Do you "soft wash" or "power wash?"
Both, because neither is suitable for all situations.
When it comes to cleaning siding on Cape Cod, the two most common exterior cleaning processes are power washing
and soft washing. Based upon these terms, many homeowners immediately decide that they want their home soft washed,
because that sounds less invasive than power washing. It's often the first question we get: "Do you soft wash?"
When a home has only some mild mold and mildew on it's exterior, it is often a good candidate to be soft washed. However, the presence of algae, moss, and lichen can require a more comprehensive cleaning process in order to get your siding meaningfully cleaned and to keep it that way for as long as possible. For that reason, we offer BOTH power washing and soft washing.
There's lots of confusion and deceptive advertising regarding this topic, and so I've made some videos to help illustrate the issues:
Our siding has "bleaching oil" and it looks just horrible...
Unfortunately, that's a common tale! Bleaching oil stain has seen a flash in popularity as builders offered it as a way to get the "weathered" look without having to wait for siding to weather naturally. The problem is, the shingle treatment seems to attract more than it's fair share of mold and mildew. Yes, we have a process to both clean the siding and remove the problematic shingle treatment.
Can you clean our siding before it is re-stained?
Absolutely. Before the paint, stain, or primer is applied, the quality and longevity of your project will depend greatly upon how well the surfaces are cleaned. With that in mind, remember that cleaning is all we do!
Allrighty then! Can you take a look at my siding?
Contact me by phone, e-mail, or my online form. We'll take a look at the job and provide you with a written quote. If you're not local, I can send the quote to you by e-mail. If you want to compare prices and shop around, you're free to do so. If you like the proposal, approve it, submit a deposit, and I'll perform the work as soon as my work schedule allows. It's that easy.
